You post to your business’s Facebook page. You check back every hour to see how many people the post has reached, and how many likes and comments it’s received. You notice it’s not performing well. A day goes by and only 20 people out of your 5,000+ followers have seen the post. What are you doing wrong? The truth is, you’re not doing anything wrong. Facebook keeps making it harder and harder for businesses to use Facebook to organically reach their audience. With recent Facebook algorithm updates, it may seem like it’s impossible to get your business’s posts to appear on your followers’ News Feeds without paying to advertise or “boost” your posts.
In the past, every post or status update would show up on a Facebook user’s News Feed. Nowadays, only select posts appear. Facebook claims this is so that only posts of “higher-quality and original content” appear on a user’s News Feed. Whatever the reason, it’s making it harder for your posts to be seen. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it! Besides paying-to-play, here are 5 things you can do to increase the organic reach on your business’s Facebook page.
Get creative with your posts and post things that you think people will want to look at, and most importantly, share with their friends. Instead of posting about your products or services, try using humor or special offers to get people’s attention. When you create a post, ask yourself, “is this something I would want to see on my News Feed?”
You will be surprised at how much interaction your posts will get if you just ask a question. Ask questions that are easy to answer and will spark interest. The more people are commenting, liking, and sharing your posts, the bigger reach you will get.
When creating a post, make sure to use a call to action. When you simply ask fans to “like” or share your posts, you’ll be surprised how many people will interact. If you want them to go to a link or view a new product, simply ask!
Share photo posts whenever possible. Statistics show that posts with photos get 39% more interaction than those that don’t have photos.
Contests are a great way to get interaction on posts. When running a contest or promotion, always make sure to give something away that sparks interest. The bigger the prize, the more interaction on the posts you will receive.
